1. Acceptance of Terms
By using Euthy Journal, you agree to these terms. Euthy Journal is created and operated by Euthy Labs. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Euthy Journal. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. Ownership of Content
You retain 100% ownership of everything you write, record, or upload to Euthy Journal, including text or voice inputs you submit to optional AI features and outputs or summaries generated by AI. We do not claim rights to your content or AI responses. Your persistent journal database is stored on your device and, if you choose to create a cloud backup, in your personal Apple iCloud or Google Drive account. Specific content sent to a connected AI feature is processed as described in the Privacy Policy and the cloud-processing section below.
4. Data Responsibility & Loss
Euthy Journal is a local-first application. This means your journal data primarily lives on your device and may also exist in backup archives within your personal cloud account. We are not responsible for any data loss resulting from device failure, app deletion, loss of your device, account security breaches, failed backups, corrupted files, personal cloud storage limits, or connectivity issues. It is your responsibility to manage your own cloud account and security.
5. Not Medical Advice & AI Accuracy
Euthy Journal provides tools for self-reflection and personal insights. It is NOT a medical device and is NOT intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any mental or physical health condition. The 'Insights', 'Recovery Signals', 'Health Correlations', 'Mood Tracking', and optional AI features (including the AI Companion chat and history Q&A) are for informational and reflective purposes only. The AI companion is powered by Large Language Models which can make mistakes or hallucinate inaccurate information. Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. NEVER DISREGARD PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL ADVICE OR DELAY SEEKING IT BECAUSE OF SOMETHING YOU HAVE READ IN THIS APP OR PROMPTED VIA THE AI.
Euthy Journal and its AI features are not crisis services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline immediately.
6. Imports, Exports & Third-Party Services
Euthy Journal can import supported backup and export files from Euthy Journal and certain third-party journal apps. Imports may overwrite existing data, so you should create a current backup before importing. Third-party app names are used only to describe compatible export formats. Day One, Journey, Daylio, Diarly, Diarium, and Stoic are trademarks of their respective owners. Euthy Journal is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
7. Premium Subscriptions
Premium features are billed on a subscription basis. Payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's store settings.
Pricing and Limit Modifications: We reserve the right to modify our subscription tiers, pricing models, rate limits (including the daily AI requests quota), and featured capabilities at any time. Any changes to pricing will be communicated in advance via email or account notification from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and will only apply to subsequent billing cycles in compliance with store billing policies.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Euthy Journal is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost journal entries, lost backups, data corruption, or loss of access to the app.
9. Analytics & Optimization
We may use analytics, performance monitoring, and crash reporting to improve app stability and performance. Optional usage analytics is off by default; when enabled, it records fixed feature events and limited funnel metadata, not journal content, moods, health metrics, location values, media or entry identifiers, exact reminder times, or routine identifiers. Technical diagnostics may include app version, device model, operating system version, and crash logs. Explicitly submitting AI safety feedback sends only a selected issue category and fixed app screen or mode, alongside standard technical metadata, even when passive usage analytics is disabled. The flagged AI response or image is not uploaded through this feedback mechanism.
10. Backend, API & Cloud Features
Compare this with then (when available): This separately enabled Premium AI shortcut starts a selected-pair discussion in AI Companion, using two entries you explicitly choose, a bounded latest message and recent discussion through our Google Cloud proxy with your Support ID. Every request uses Premium AI credits or Eco limits and is excluded from the free text sample. Quotes are checked against the supplied excerpts; that does not establish that every interpretation is true. Two entries cannot establish a complete timeline, lasting psychological pattern, diagnosis or causal explanation. You may correct an interpretation in a follow-up reply. Excerpts and discussion are saved locally in Companion history and optional personal backups, not written to journal entries. Deleting either source removes linked comparison chats. Starting a general chat preserves this saved discussion but does not carry its context into the new conversation. There are no background searches or automatic AI requests.
Reflect on your week: This optional Premium AI feature previews selected sources locally before you choose Generate. With the shared AI permission, generation sends frozen week/time-zone boundaries, titles/dates, local-day labels, a limited selection of entry excerpts and your optional focus, and your Support ID through Euthy's Google Cloud proxy to Google Cloud AI. Replies reuse those frozen sources, the initial reflection and limited recent discussion history. Long entries may be shortened, and older messages may be omitted; the reflection may not cover everything you wrote that week. No broader search, profile, saved memories, media or structured health/location fields are added; writing may itself contain sensitive details. Quotes are checked, but interpretations can be wrong. Excerpts, focus, reflection and replies are saved locally and included in optional chat backups; saved reading remains available offline or after opt-out. Editing/deleting a source removes its dependent discussion on this device. Write about this opens an editable draft using the question and your recent replies, not assistant interpretations; only Save creates an entry. Generation/replies use paid allowance or Eco limits, not free samples. Nothing runs automatically. The separate optional weekly reminder uses generic local notification text and does not generate AI or spend allowance.
Personalized writing prompts: The editor's AI toolbar offers offline starter questions and optional Premium AI personalized suggestions. With personalized prompts enabled and the shared permission accepted, Generate sends selected titles/dates, a limited selection of recent entry excerpts from your selected journal and your optional focus, and your Support ID through Euthy's Google Cloud proxy to Google Cloud AI. Review or exclude sources first. Long entries may be shortened. The current draft/entry, other journals, profile, memories, media and structured health/location fields are excluded; written text may itself be sensitive. Quotes are checked, but questions may make mistaken assumptions. Generation uses paid allowance or Eco limits, not free samples. Suggestions/excerpts are temporary on-screen data, not a saved discussion. Use this question appends only the chosen question to your draft without replacing writing; only Save creates an entry. There is no automatic generation, saving or memory creation.
Connected AI is optional and uses Google Cloud AI or OpenAI through Euthy's Google Cloud proxy with a pseudonymous Support ID. One shared permission covers the disclosed providers/data use; feature settings, health sharing and automatic analysis/indexing remain separate. Euthy does not store journal prompts, responses or images in its Firestore quota database or intentionally log them. Providers may temporarily retain request content under their terms; OpenAI store: false disables saved Responses state, not abuse-monitoring retention. See the Privacy Policy for routing, scope, retention and controls. This API integration does not use your ChatGPT subscription allowance.
Free AI text sample: When available, Apple or Google sign-in is required before the first of up to 20 successful text AI uses across supported text-chat answers and Journal via AI Save as Entry compilations. Each successful answer or compilation uses one sample. This is a one-time allowance per verified provider account, shared across chats, with no monthly reset. Save as Entry uses a bounded recent conversation, so earlier material in a long chat may be omitted. Keep at least one sample available if you want AI compilation. Successful generation uses a sample even if local saving later fails; on the same open screen you can retry saving that draft without another AI request. Cancelled confirmations and failed generation do not use a personal sample, but failed generation attempts count toward the shared daily service budget. It excludes Go deeper, Compare this with then, images, weather, background AI, and Premium-only settings. Daily service budgets or temporary outages can pause new requests. Saved local conversations remain readable after the allowance ends. Do not create accounts or reset identifiers to evade usage limits. Premium AI subscribers do not need to sign in to purchase, use, or restore their subscription.
Go deeper (when available): Optional selected-entry reflection in AI Companion generates questions and conversational follow-ups without changing the original entry. It requires its own opt-in setting and uses Premium AI credits or Eco Mode limits for each request; it is not included in the free text sample. Suggestions are interpretations for reflection, not diagnoses or a verified account of your motives. Requests use a bounded entry excerpt and recent conversation, not your entire journal or conversation history. Availability may be limited by language, service capacity and reviewed disclosures. Saved reflection chats remain readable locally when the setting is off or paid access ends.
Data deletion: Settings > Manage data deletion and our web request page provide separate paths for local data, verified sample records, and server-record deletion requests. Verified sample deletion retains a keyed-hash anti-abuse marker for up to 12 months. Deleting data does not cancel a store subscription, and later use of an active entitlement can recreate its credit record.
Where available, linked Google or Apple verification can authorize an optional historical Premium AI usage cleanup after separate confirmation. The app returns the outcome without requiring an email handoff. This scoped cleanup retains the entire credit ledger and purchase links, including for expired subscribers, and today's request-limit counter. It does not reset credits, cancel a subscription, erase local chats, delete an account, or remove Apple, Google or RevenueCat records. Full account/credit-record deletion is separate. The one-use confirmation expires after 15 minutes; pending metadata is scheduled for removal after 24 hours and completed account/proof-free receipts after 30 days, with asynchronous cleanup. See the Privacy Policy for processing and retention details.
The separate linked full-account deletion action is available in supported app versions. It requires verified account ownership and separate irreversible confirmation. It clears local journals, media and chats on the current device, removes currently connected backups and revokes/disconnects Euthy sign-in authorization. RevenueCat profile deletion is requested asynchronously and can remove manually granted access; it does not cancel store billing. Minimal paid-balance/purchase records, the 12-month sample anti-abuse marker and today's short-lived request counter remain under the Privacy Policy. Other devices, disconnected backups and independently saved exports are outside this action. Shared/legacy purchase aliases require verified support handling. An error or interrupted request is not confirmation that all steps finished; reopen Manage data deletion to retry.
11. AI Acceptable Use & Fair Use Policy
Premium AI subscription plans grant access to cloud-based generative AI features (including companion chat, entry analysis, and image generation/editing). To ensure fair availability, stability, and control server costs, these features are subject to Fair Use rate limits (which are dynamically managed to ensure server stability, fair availability, and control operational costs). You agree not to use the AI features in an abusive manner, which includes but is not limited to: automating queries via bots or scripts, attempting to scrape model outputs, reverse-engineering API endpoints, or generating illegal, harmful, hateful, or sexually explicit content that violates third-party developer policies (such as Google Gemini/Vertex AI terms). We reserve the right to temporarily suspend, throttle, or terminate your access to AI features if we detect suspicious, automated, or abusive patterns of usage, without refund of your subscription fees.
12. Cloud Integration
When using Google Drive or iCloud for backups, you are subject to their respective terms. We only request the minimum permissions necessary to store and retrieve your journal backups. Euthy Journal utilizes restricted app-specific storage; we do not have access to your account credentials or any data outside of the Euthy Journal backup files.
13. Third-Party Map and Location Services
Euthy Journal utilizes native map services (such as Apple Maps or Google Maps) to provide location tagging and map viewing features. By using these features, you also agree to be bound by the respective Terms of Service of those third-party map providers. Euthy Journal is not responsible for the accuracy of geocoding data or map displays provided by these third parties.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Your continued use of the app after changes are made constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
